While attending UCLA, Nathan
Friedkin began his filmmaking career working with
acclaimed indie director Henry Jaglom. He then
worked in the editing room with Oscar nominated
documentary director Michele Ohayon. Having gained
experience in visual storytelling, Friedkin went on
to live and work in London, England. Upon his return
to the Bay Area, Friedkin Digital was established as
a full service production company to create
marketing and promotional videos for a wide range of
clients including Clear Channel, Infinity
Broadcasting, the City of Oakland and the XFL.
In 2001, the Jewish Home for the Aged in San
Francisco asked Friedkin to document a unique
musical event involving a remarkable group of
seniors. "A 'Specially Wonderful Affair" premiered
theatrically in the summer of 2002 at the SF Jewish
Film Festival and has since screened throughout the
world including Barcelona and Montreal. In December
2002, PBS broadcast the film locally on KQED.
Presently,
Friedkin is directing a one hour broadcast
documentary for PBS called "Fresh
Eyes." It is a story about the journey of four
youth, two from the USA and two from Israel, to
attend the Fortune 2004 Brainstorm Conference in
Aspen,
Colorado. Friedkin resides in Berkeley, California
with his wife Shelley and two young sons, Joshua and
Aaron.
